Tribute Made By “Glee” Episode For Cory Monteith
A tribute was made by “Glee” for Cory Monteith, who played the role of beloved quarterback-singer Finn during the Thursday episode of the show. The series and fans were in a bind on how the death of the star will be handled.
The producers of the show eventually decided to write the character of Monteith out of the show. The decision was for the character to die in the show. However, the death of Finn and his funeral were not shown in the series. The series concentrated on how his friends were affected by his death.
The “Glee” episode that paid tribute to Cory Monteith did not reveal the reason for the death of Finn.
One character said that everyone wanted to discuss his death, but who cares about it. The character focused on how Monteith lived. Principal Sue Sylvester indicated that taking care of the people Finn loved was one way of honoring him. Jane Lynch plays the role of the Sylvester.
The “Glee” episode appears to avoid making a show of the sadness of the characters. The characters paid tribute to Cory Monteith through song numbers. Among the numbers in the episode were “If I Die Young,” “Fire and Rain,” and “525,600 Minutes.”
The deep grief of the characters was shown through Rachel, the character of Lea Michele, which appeared late in the show.
Corey Monteith and Lea Michele had an off-screen relationship. The scenes showing Rachel may have been genuine. She was choking when she said that she loved Finn in the episode. She also had a tearful rendition of "Make You Feel My Love" on the show.
Although the storyline did not refer to drug addiction, a short service announcement was delivered by the members of the cast at the end of the show indicating the substance abuse struggle of Monteith, which he was not able to overcome.
“Glee” is currently on a break for a number of weeks as the World Series is aired by Fox.
