Two Golden Globe Awards Go To “Argo”

“Argo”, an Iran hostage drama, snared two Golden Globe awards recently as it copped the best movie drama and the best director trophies on Sunday.

On the other hand, “Les Miserables” won the best comedy or musical award at the Golden Globe awards. Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman also copped acting awards on the same night.

But the biggest story of the Golden Globe awards was how “Lincoln” only copped one trophy. The drama about the battle of US President Abraham Lincoln to end slavery had seven nominations prior to the awards night. Another big story was the awarding of the best director trophy to Ben Affleck.

Affleck did not receive an Oscar nomination even though “Argo” was nominated for the best film award in the Oscars. The Oscar Awards is slated to be held on February 24.

The producer of “Argo”, George Clooney, revealed his disappointment during the Golden Globe awards that Affleck was snubbed by voters at the Academy Awards. Clooney said that Affleck did a great job in the movie and he deserved to be nominated.

The second biggest awards event also had its share of surprises as Jodie Foster finally admitted of being gay. The Golden Globe awards also saw the attendance of former US president Bill Clinton.
