U2 And Will Smith To Guest On Jimmy Fallon “Tonight Show” Debut
The Tonight Show of Jimmy Fallon is expected to look like his current program on a time slot that follows Jay Leno. Fallon said that he may not alter his brand of comedy when he moves into the earlier time slot.
Fallon declined ideas on changing himself in order to increase his appeal among older audiences that like Jay Leno. The subject is delicate following the short-lived stint of Conan O’Brien as the replacement of Leno. The limited appear of O’Brien spelled disaster in the initial effort of NBC in replacing Leno.
The two-decade run of Leno as the host of the “Tonight Show” will close on February 6 with Garth Brooks and Billy Crystal as his guests. On the other hand, Jimmy Fallon will debut on February 17 with US and Will Smith as his guests.
Robert Greenblatt, entertainment president of NBC, said he would like Leno to remain with NBC. However, Fallon is not worried if Leno will leave NBC. He added that he has been regularly speaking with Leno, who gave him advice.
Fallon said his “Tonight Show” will make everyone laugh, which is his job. He added that he is thankful for celebrities joining games or skits. It shows a different side of the stars. He also said the show will be taken on the road even as it will be moved from the West Coast into New York.
Jimmy Fallon also defended the change in the show’s formal title since it pays homage to the root of the show.
On the other hand, Seth Meyers, who replaces Fallon on the “Late Night,” aims to create a group of writer performers for the show, which will have a strong monologue. He said that their objective is to become funny and improve each night. He added that he does not want to get hung up by the legacy of Jimmy Fallon and other previous hosts of the show since it will interrupt his work.
