Unnamed Actress will Sue Amazon.com for Revealing Age
Seattle — An unnamed actress has decided to sue Amazon.com for revealing her real age on Amazon’s Internet Movie Database. The issue escalated when the site refused to remove the information when she asked for it. The actress will file the case in Seattle’s federal court for over $ 1 million worth of lawsuit.
The lawsuit was filed Thursday but the actress was not named and referred to as Jane Doe. Limited information was given to describe the actress. It was said she lives in Texas. The actress was also described to be of Asian descent despite having an American stage name.
In 2008, the actress had signed up for Amazon’s Internet Movie Database service. She accused the site of misusing and overly disclosing private and personal information about her. She noticed her birthday has already been published and became accessible to the public shortly thereafter. She pleaded the information to be removed but it was refused forcing her to file a legal lawsuit.
The lawsuit says that the actress is losing a lot of opportunities in showbiz industry due to her age, and she’s also missing many works because of her youthful aura. The disclosure of her legal age has caused a lot of damage to the actress’ career. The actress has once experience rejection when she was denied of a role for a 40 year old woman, the reason: she cannot portray the role; she is younger than her age.
