Update: Suspect emerges in brutal baseball tragedy

By now, nearly all of America has heard of Bryan Stow. After an unspeakable, unprovoked, assault in the parking lot of Dodger's Stadium, Stow continues to fight for his life inside a San Francisco-area hospital.

The attack, which took place after an opening-day match-up between the world champion San Francisco Giants and L.A. Dodgers, was under investigation for weeks on end. Dodger's stadium even faced a lawsuit from the Stow family for failing to exercise due diligence in protecting fans and spectators from danger.

As investigators continued to press on in the case, they were hard-pressed to come up with a solid suspect or lead. No arrests had been made and supporters of the Stows around the nation were beginning to wonder if there would ever be a break in the case.

Luckily, the past few days have proven that with perseverance and diligent police work, the alleged perpetrators of this unthinkable crime can be finally brought to justice. A suspect has finally been arrested and L.A. prosecutors have begun the task of assuring the suspect, if culpable in the beating, will receive the punishment he deserves.

The arrest came about in late May following weeks of investigation and an eventual raid on the suspects dwelling. LAPD believes the recent arrestee, Giovanni Ramirez, is one of two assailants involved in the perpetration of this crime, but only one arrest has been effectuated thus far. In addition, police are in pursuit of a female conspirator who allegedly drove a getaway vehicle following the assault.

A tip to police was provided by a L.A.-area parole officer who happened to notice one of his parolees sharply resembled a sketch being circulated amongst Southern California law enforcement. One thing lead to another and other parolees detailed various conversations they had with the suspect regarding the attack and beating. To add to law enforcement's growing suspicions, when Ramirez arrived for his next parole hearing, his officer noticed he had significant altered a set of facial and neck tattoos that had already been identified to police by various witnesses to the crime.

The victim remains in a coma in a San Francisco hospital. He has suffered extensive brain damage but managed to survive the attack, much to the joy of his two children and family. Despite hundreds of tips provided by dozens of witnesses, the LAPD remained determined to seek justice for this victim.

It is unclear whether the lawsuit against the Dodger's organization is being pursued at this time. Stow's parents commenced the suit alleging that antiquated features and cut-backs in security proximately caused the beating upon Stow. Further, the petition contends that during a high-profile home opener, more security detail is necessary to protect fans.
