Vanessa Hudgens, Austin Butler Under Investigation For Rock Carving in Coconino National Forest in Arizona
Vanessa Hudgens and her boyfriend, Austin Butler, are under investigation after they allegedly carved their names along with a heart on a rock in the Coconino National Forest in Arizona. The two stars were on a weekend getaway for Valentine’s Day at the Sedona, Arizona park. Hudgens posted photos of the trip on Instagram along with the alleged carving. The photo of the carving was already deleted.
U.S. Forest Service Public Affairs Officer Brady Smith said they are currently investigating the incident and they have no specific details to release for the moment. However, Smith said the issue of carving names on rock in Sedona and nearby areas is an issue they have to deal with. They are also trying to educate people about the issue. But, whenever someone carves something on a stone, more people will follow.
Smith adds that carving on stone is a federal offense. Title 36 of CFR 261.9 prohibits carving anything affecting the natural beauty of an area. He also said Title 36 of CFR 261.9 sets $5,000 as the maximum fine for damaging natural features or properties of the United States and/or imprisonment of six months. Smith also said an investigation on the incident will be conducted by the department, which is what they do to similar incidents. The weekend getaway of the 27-year-old Grease Live actress followed the rave reviews she received for her role as Betty Rizzo. Vanessa Hudgens was also praised by her boyfriend.
Butler indicated on Twitter that the performance was “mind-blowing.” Hudgens performed on the television special even after her father passed away due to cancer the day before. The actress said she will still perform to honor her father.
The investigation on the incident in Arizona did not appear to affect the actress, who was seen on a night out at the Maia restaurant in Los Angeles. Onlookers said Vanessa Hudgens appeared happy when she arrived with her friends at around 8:30 PM.
