Walking Dead Fourth Season Premiere Tops Charts
The Walking Dead had the premiere of its fourth season this Sunday managing to basically blow its competition out of the water. On a night when shows like Boardwalk Empire, The Amazing Race and so on managed to usually be the rating champs, the first episode of the new season saw an amazing 16.1 million viewers tune in.
The 18-49 demo was also strong for the show scoring an amazing 10.4 million, outperforming every show except the NFL.
The recent numbers continue to show the show’s slow but steady progress. Ever since its premiere, AMC’s most viewed program has managed to increase its viewer numbers with every episode starting from their first that which gathered 5.35 million viewers. Season 3 ended with fantastic numbers as well with 12.4 million viewers tunning in to see the show.
While the show always came with a pretty big fan base from the popular Robert Kirkman graphic novels, the rise in viewers made it one of the most watched television programs on right now, competing with rating stars like “The Voice” who only got 14.7 million viewers to tune in during its premiere.
The Walking Dead’s premiere episode is expected to get in 20 million viewers when numbers from Live+ are factored in making it one of the most successful season start offs ever.
