Warning Issued By North Korea Following Seoul Rocket Launch
Following the rocket launch of South Korea, North Korea has issued a threat of retaliating for the supposed double standards that the US has over the rocket launches of the two Koreas.
The spokesman for the North Korean Foreign Ministry did not give any indications on what his statements meant although Pyongyang had indicated that it will conduct a third nuclear test following the supposed hostility of the United States.
The rocket launch of South Korea was not considered for non-military use by the US. On the other hand, the rocket launch of Pyongyang was considered as a test of ballistic missile technology.
New sanctions were imposed by the UN Security Council for the rocket launch of North Korea. Pyongyang indicated that it should be given the opportunity to launch satellites for non-military uses. The two countries revealed that their respective satellites were functioning properly although experts in the US said the satellite of North Korea was not working.
The rocket launch of South Korea brought a satellite into space that was supposed to evaluate distances on earth, measure radiation, analyze weather data, and test the performance of the devices integrated into the satellite. The devices were made in South Korea.
However, South Korea was assisted by other countries in launching the satellite into space. In comparison, most of the components of the rocket that was launched by Pyongyang were mainly manufactured by North Korea.
The main space official of South Korea, Kim Seung-jo, indicated that the country may have the capability of manufacturing a rocket that will put satellites into orbit by 2018.
Science and technology spending is set to be increased by the incoming South Korean President Park Geun-hye. She indicated that spending for science and technology will be increased to five percent of the GDP within her term.
The satellite that was brought into space by the recent South Korean rocket launch will facilitate the development of more advanced satellites in the future.
