Washington Wizards Receive Wall Fitness Boost

Washington Wizards received a major boost on Friday morning after it was confirmed that their star point guard John Wall's injured left knee is showing signs of improvement and he has been given the green signal to step up his training.

The 22-year-old playmaker's troubled knee was thoroughly examined by orthopedic surgeon David Altchek, who concluded: "John's examination today showed improvement in his stress injury that will allow him to begin ramping up his activity level. There is still some irritation in the knee which we have treated over his last several visits with a series of three lubricating Synvisc injections, the last of which was given today. He will continue to be evaluated on an ongoing basis."

Wall hasn't played a game for the Wizards so far this season due to a non-traumatic stress injury in his left patella which was identified by Altchek back in September. It was originally thought that he'd be back after eight weeks of rest but it has now been 11 weeks since that prognosis and he is still not fully fit for his season debut.

The third-year guard's absence has affected the Wizards' on-court fortunes a great deal, as they currently own the worst record in the league with just three wins and 16 losses.

Despite Altcheck's positive words, a definite date for Wall's return has still not been set. However, it is thought that he will now participate in normal training sessions with his teammates rather than just practice stationary jumpers like he has been doing for the past few weeks.
