Wen Jiabao Visits Train Accident Site
Wenzhou, China — Wen Jiabao, Chinese Premier, went to the train accident site and vowed to give the deadly and tragic accident a transparent and thorough investigation. Illness prevented him from immediately visiting the site right after the train accident. He was at the hospital for 11 straight days that hindered him to visit the site. However, the illness was not disclosed by the 68 year old official.
The accident, which killed 39 people and injuring hundreds, was the deadliest in China since 2008. Rumors and suspicions were circulating about the Chinese Government’s attempt to hide the truth from the public. Initial reports said that the Chinese officials blamed the accident to a faulty signaling device installed. The Chinese public wants a clear statement on the real cause of the accident. Local Chinese Media put the blame to foreign technology right after the accident.
China Institute for Railway Research took the responsibility for the faulty signaling device installed in the said-to-be modern and high technology bullet trains envisioned to rival Japan’s. Public dissatisfaction rose and majority are not dismayed by the turn of events in the investigation of the bullet train accident. Families of the victims shouted for justice to be served as the Chinese Government were very slow in handling and addressing the case.
