“White Widow” Arrest Warrant Issued By Interpol
Interpol had an affirmative response to the request issued by Kenyan authorities coming out with an arrest warrant for the “White Widow” also known as Samantha Lewthwaite.
She is accused among other things of taking part in a terrorist attack at an upmarket shopping mall in Nairobi that took place this week. A “Red Notice” was issued by the Interpol after Kenyan authorities said she is a lead suspect in the recent terrorist attack.
Kenyan foreign minister Amina Mohamed confirmed that a “British woman” who had been involved in terrorist acts before had something to do with the attacks even if for the moment there is no hard proof that ties her to it.
Lewthwaite was a Muslim convert who had been married to Jermaine Lindsay, one of the terrorists responsible for the suicide attacks in London. She had disappeared in March of 2012 and has been reported to be running from authorities throughout East Africa since then.
Ronald Noble, Interpol secretary said that all 190 nations involved in the international police community are now aware of the danger posed by Lewthwaite thanks to the “red notice” requested by Kenya. While charged with other crimes, Lewthwaite or the "White Widow" who also goes under the alias “Natalie Webb” has been wanted only on a British national level.
