Whitney Houston’s Ex-Hubby Bobby Brown Charged with DUI

Bobby Brown, the ex-husband of the late singer Whitney Houston, has been charged with driving under the influence and with a suspended license.

The song writer and rapper was arrested on Monday on suspicion of drink driving. It was revealed his blood alcohol was 0.12, well over the legal limit of 0.08, according to TMZ.  He was also charged with driving with a suspended license.

Reportedly, both charges are misdemeanors but could carry a fine of $1000 each as well as up to six months in jail as a maximum penalty.

Brown's attorney, Tiffany Feder, said she could not give any comment on the case because she had not received the police report and other pertinent documents yet. Earlier in the day, the lawyer gave a statement denying that Brown was driving unsafely when he was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol on Monday afternoon.

Accordingly, Brown was stopped by the police because he was seen talking on a cellphone without a hands-free unit, but the officer also suspected the singer was impaired and eventually failed the sobriety test.

Bobby was released from jail without having to post bail, but would face up to six months in jail on the DUI counts if convicted. His first court appearance is scheduled on April 16.
