World’s Greatest Woman Hockey Player Upset with Untimely Pregnancy Of Her Goalie
Argentine field hockey star Luciana Aymar, the seven-time international player of the year, got upset with goalie for getting pregnant before Olympics.
The world's greatest woman field hockey player said she wanted a drink when she found out her national teammate was pregnant, not to celebrate but to drown her frustrations.
The Argentine star revealed she was thoroughly upset with starting goalie Belen Succi for getting pregnant before the Summer Olympics. As a result, Succi will miss the tournament as she prepares for the birth, which would put the team at the disadvantage.
"She could have waited three months," Aymar told the Argentine Sports Daily, Ole.
The midfielder revealed that Succi had planned the pregnancy despite her requests to hold it off until after the Olympics. The field hockey star said she supports motherhood but not at the expense of a gold-medal pursuit and leaving a team hanging in mid-air.
"It was a tough blow," Aymar said. "I wish her the best as a mother-to-be, but for us as a team it was hard. As a goalie, 'Goofy' is huge, and the truth is she left us in a tight spot."
Belen Succi was the goalie on the 2008 team that finished third.
The Argentina has won three medals, one silver and two bronzes, while under Aymar's three Olympics appearances. The team is favored to contend for another medal in their tournament this August. Luciana Aymar has announced she'll retire after London.
