Xbox Live Goes Down Again
After hours of experiencing issues, complaints through social media showed Xbox Live was still down. Users experienced issues in logging into the site and booting their games. Down to this, download-only games, such as Trials Fusion and digital versions of games, like Star Wars: Battlefront will not start. In addition, some users are also experiencing issues in booting Amazon Instant Video, Netflix and Hulu. These users are getting error messages whenever they try booting.
The online gaming platform of Microsoft appears to be experiencing a number of issues for the month of February. This is already the second consecutive week where the service has experienced disruptions. The service is critical in the generation of revenue for the gaming division of Microsoft.
Xbox Live Gold members have been frustrated by the outages in the service. The premium tier of the service offers access to online multiplayer games and special deals to its customers, who pay a $60 annual fee that is used for the maintenance of the servers of Microsoft.
A spokesperson from Microsoft revealed that delays may be experienced by some users when they launch digital content and the company is working hard to ensure the services are fully restored.
A statement from the status site of Microsoft Live indicated that the company is aware of the difficulty of some users in signing into the service. They are also aware of the issues some users are experiencing when they purchase new subscriptions or when they try to manage their existing accounts. The company also assured users that their best engineers are working on finding a fix for the issue.
The service experienced numerous outages last week when the network was not functional for three consecutive days. The outage experienced by the service is the worst for the connectivity features of a console since the cyberattack on the PlayStation Network that left it offline for at least five days in 2014. The same attack also forced the Xbox Live to go down for one day.
