Xbox One Receives May System Update

The May system update for the Xbox One was released recently by Microsoft. The update provided the game console additional features including an enhanced SmartGlass functionality, voice messaging and power-saving features.

The voice messaging update will allow users to send as well as receive messages through the messaging application of the game console. Aside from sending messages to other Xbox One consoles, the update will also allow users to send messages to the Xbox 360 and vice versa.

The SmartGlass application also received a Power On/Off option allowing users to turn on or off their consoles if their console is sharing the same network with their mobile devices.

The initial setup option of the game console of Microsoft was also tweaked by the May system update. The tweak will allow new users to select an “Instant On” or “Energy-Saving” option for their game consoles. The new option was initially announced by the software giant a month ago after a report from the National Resources Defense Council criticized its Instant On mode, which basically makes the system wasteful when it comes to energy use.

Servers dedicated for party chat were also added through the May system update for the game console. The rollout of the new feature is currently being done by Microsoft and it will become available to more Xbox One users in the near future.
