Yani Tseng Triumphs at British Golf Open

Carnoustie, Scotland — Taiwanese National Yani Tseng won this year’s prestigious Women’s British Golf Open for the two straight years. She beat closest rival, Brittany Lang, during the final round Sunday. Tseng defeated Lang by 4 strokes and is now the youngest woman ever to capture a 5th major title.

Yani Tseng is only 22 years old. Currently, she is considered to be the best golfer from Taiwan. She finished the final round with a score of 3-under 69 for a final aggregate score of 272. Before the fourth and final round, Tseng was only second to German Caroline Masson. Masson led the pack going to the final round and was 3 strokes ahead of Tseng. Masson finished the final round with a dismal showing of 78 to wound up tied fifth with other golfers.

For Yani Tseng, the win was very special. Despite the presence of great players in the tournament, she showcased her excellent mental game that powered her to victory at Carnoustie.

Second placer Lang was exceptional in the final round with a score of 67 but could no longer overtake Tseng. Lang was tied for 6th place before the final round and her final day’s good performance propelled her to the 2nd spot. Swede Sophie Gustafson came in 3rd while Amy Yang from South Korea wound up in 4th place.
