Zach Braff Gets $2 million For “Wish I Was Here”
Zach Braff has managed to get the $2 million he needed to get his new movie started. The actor who played a quirky yet warm hearted and charismatic doctor on the hit show “Scrubs”, managed to get his new project, a “Garden State” follow up, on the go with the help of Kickstarter, a crowd funding website.
After making his Kickstarter project public, a number of people questioned why Zach Braff didn't invest his own money, and accused the star of using “free money” to play with his creative ideas.
Braff responded to the accusations saying that some people think he has “Oprah Winfrey money” and that while he did OK in his career, he didn't have anywhere near enough money to finance his movie.
Braff also added that he isn't taking advantage of his donors, saying that even the people who donated the bare minimum will get an online magazine with a making of.
Fans who donated $10,000 will even get a speaking role while most donors will receive invites to screenings and of course to the after parties.
Zach Braff’s success on Kickstarter isn't unique, with a Veronica Mars movie earning nearly $6 million dollars, enough to move the movie along into early production.
